The Finance Department is seeking an Accountant/Financial Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting and Analysis. The successful candidate will support controllership functions, complete full-cycle accounting tasks, conduct financial analyses, and prepare reports. The role ensures the timely and accurate delivery of financial processes essential to the organization.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the implementation and configuration of a new payroll system, including data migration, testing, and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with HR to enhance payroll system functionalities and drive efficiencies.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Support year-end audits by preparing documentation, reports, and schedules.
  • Work with IT on asset management and system reconciliations, including disposals.
  • Provide financial support for operations, employee matters, and projects, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage contracts and purchase orders, overseeing the Procure-to-Pay cycle.
  • Assist in financial system administration and support system initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; CPA designation (completed or in final stages) or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in full-cycle accounting and finance.
  • Payroll expertise with Ceridian Dayforce, managing payroll accounting, reconciliation, and system integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and auditing standards for compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical skills to interpret data, investigate discrepancies, and identify trends.
  • A proactive approach, ownership mindset, and continuous improvement attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and strategic insights.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, assess risks, and support business operations effectively.

The candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and undergo a criminal background check.

This position currently offers a hybrid work model with a minimum of three days in-office per week. The policy may change at any time.

This position is within a bargaining unit represented by OPSEU. Terms of employment will be governed by a collective agreement once negotiated.
