Financial Analyst

Reporting To: Senior, Financial Planning & Analyst and the Corporate Controller

Compensation Range: $60,000 - $70,000

Join VetCare on its path to becoming a leading acquirer and operator of animal hospitals in Canada! We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our dynamic, entrepreneurial corporate team based in Vancouver. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, data analysis, and decision support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining dashboards and financial reports, supporting data integrity and warehousing efforts, performing reconciliations, and preparing accurate financial statements in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (CGAAP).

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and comprehensive income statements, in accordance with CGAAP.
  • Perform journal entries to accurately record financial transactions and support the general ledger close process.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closings, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting cycles.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders as required.
  • Complete account reconciliations and assist with variance analysis and issue resolution.
Data Management & Analysis:
  • Support data warehousing initiatives by maintaining data structures and ensuring data integrity across reporting platforms.
  • Maintain dashboards and recurring reports that communicate key financial metrics and trends.
  • Utilize data analysis tools to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities to improve financial performance and processes.
Planning & Decision Support:
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, or data analytics within a corporate finance or accounting environment.
  • Solid understanding of CGAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong technical skills in working with financial data, including data cleaning and structuring.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
