This role supports month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while collaborating with the CFO, Controller and Assistant Controller.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, sharp analytical skills, and attention to detail, in a fast-paced environment. CPA is an asset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• 2–5 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Experience with ERP systems is a plus (NetSuite).

Financial Controller

LOCATION:

Pointe-Claire (Montreal)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We're looking for a motivated Financial Analyst to join our Accounting & Finance team. This role will play an active role in month-end financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, and other key finance initiatives. The Financial Analyst will work closely with and provide support to the Assistant Controller, Controller, and CFO while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting and finance activities.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting and finance, excellent analytical skills, is meticulous, and has the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role is well suited for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing their financial and business acumen while contributing to the continued improvement of the Finance function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Participate in the month-end close and financial reporting process, including the preparation and analysis of financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Perform monthly variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Prepare recurring financial and management reports to support business performance reviews and decision-making.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by the CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller.
• Assist in analyzing financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Support the Finance team with account analysis, reconciliations, and other month-end activities as required.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
• Work with Finance and other departments to gather, validate, and analyze information used in the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Monitor actual results against budget and forecast and assist in explaining key variances.
• Support the development and maintenance of financial models, schedules, and reporting tools.

Audit & Accounting Support

• Assist with the year-end financial statement audit, including preparing supporting schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
• Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with accounting analyses and other financial reporting requirements.
• Assist with special projects and other Finance initiatives as required.

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, analysis, and Finance processes.
• Leverage Excel, financial systems, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
• Support the development and automation of recurring reports and analytical tools to reduce manual effort and improve the quality of financial information.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation (or actively pursuing the CPA designation) is an asset.
• 2-5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, or a related finance role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is considered an asset).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Self-motivated team player with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and year-end audit processes is considered an asset.
• Foundational AI literacy, including experience using generative AI tools, and a proactive mindset to experiment with new technologies to drive productivity and innovation.
