About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial and accounting processes for Wisedocs. This includes accounts payable and receivable, payroll, monthly bookkeeping, and month-end & year-end accounting and reconciliation tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, judgment, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily financial operations for the company.
- Review, prepare, and process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Lead financial audit preparations and respond to auditors' requests.
- Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Review financial controls and accounting policies regularly.
- Implement and monitor financial controls and internal accounting procedures.
- Develop and maintain various financial reports on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in preparing and developing budget proposals and models.
- Monitor account activity to ensure accuracy and validity of transactions, in accordance with GAAP.
- Respond to queries from internal staff and external stakeholders regarding financial issues.
- Reconcile procurement card transactions monthly, including credit card transaction allocation.
- Administer employee compensation, liaising with external payroll providers as needed.
- Assist Program Directors and Supervisors with financial monitoring.
- Manage expense accounts, timesheets, travel, vacation schedules, and budgets.
- Support purchases, invoices, and expenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Experience at a major accounting audit firm is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting/financial management and administrative roles.
- Knowledge of standard accounting practices, audit management, account administration, and bookkeeping.
- Financial or accounting designation is an asset.
- Exceptional accuracy and confidentiality.
- High attention to detail and organization skills.
