As a member of the Finance team the Financial Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial information to support monthly and annual reporting. The ideal candidate will have the aptitude and drive to develop expertise across all areas of the Finance function contributing to the efficiency and integrity of financial processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Generate monthly financial reports updating forecasts cash flows and graphical analysis.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends variances and key financial drivers including presenting findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform budget-to-actual comparisons and variance analysis preparing explanations for relevant stakeholders.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making and sustainability planning.
- Create and distribute monthly financial reports to departments meet with budget holders as required and act on findings of the review.
- Journalize reconcile and review various bank on-line digital and credit card accounts as assigned ensuring inclusion of appropriate back-up and compliance with reporting deadlines.
- Validate and reconcile Gifts in Kind (GIK) tracking ensuring proper procedures and documentation.
- Prepare and process financial allocations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department leaders.
- Manage monthly rolling forecast process by integrating financial and operational data with the budgeting software.
- Update reporting departments to assign unclassified actuals to budget holders.
- Assist as required with capital budgets.
- Prepare grant financial reporting as required for management and grantors.
- Attend grant update meetings and ensure compliance with funder reporting requirements and stream allocations.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Develop and refine financial reports and dashboards using FinancialForce and analytics tools.
- Enhance financial reporting processes through automation and data extraction techniques.
- Provide user training and support for financial systems and reporting tools including the budgeting system.
- Troubleshoot system issues and implement improvements for efficiency.
- Ensure accurate approval processes for department transactions and manage ad hoc US Bank requests (e.g. new credit cards information changes).
- Manage the credit card process overall including issuance of cards approval process and uploading to the financial accounting system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelors degree in accounting commerce business administration or relevant related experience.
- CPA or equivalent experience would be considered an asset.
- 5 years of accounting experience with a demonstrated level of increasing responsibilities.
- Proven experience with full cycle accounting financial statement preparation and analysis and account reconciliations.
- Experience in the Salesforce environment would be an asset including use of Certinia CloudBudget and Tableau;
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
- Self-directed with the ability to show initiative and take responsibility.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel Word and Outlook); intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is required.
- Excellent client service skills and ability to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in a professional courteous manner while meeting strict deadlines.
- Positive and professional work ethic which include : Collaboration Accountability Respect and Excellence;
- Experience in financial reporting in the areas of sales marketing events and fund development would be an asset.
