Job description

Summit Search Group is proud to partner with a well-established and growing Saskatchewan-based organization with a strong reputation in the residential construction and exterior services industry. With an established operation in Regina and continued expansion across the province, the business is entering an exciting stage of growth and is looking for an experienced Operations & Finance Manager to help build the infrastructure needed for its next phase.

The successful candidate will become a key partner to the President, providing financial visibility while strengthening the processes, controls, and systems that allow the business to operate efficiently and profitably. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role that sits at the intersection of finance, administration, estimating, project controls, and field operations.

The Opportunity

You will lead day-to-day operational execution while ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, disciplined cash management, strengthening processes, and ensuring the office and field teams are working from accurate, timely information.

This role sits at the intersection of operations, estimating, invoicing, and finance and is critical to ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and with clean, reliable financial data.

You will maintain core accounting controls, oversee finance activities while also leading the office operations, administrative team, support estimating and job costing discipline, manage revenue-cycle readiness, and partnering with field operations in addition to external CPAs and BC head office.

The successful candidate will be an effective, high-impact, hands-on leader, and an excellent communicator who thrives moving between financial statements and day-to-day operations, including reviewing job profitability, following up on an invoice, validating payroll, improving processes, helping solve an operational issue, and making sure the right information is being captured in the field.

The Operations & Finance Manager will play an important role in building the systems and processes, turning operational activity into accurate financial insight, while coaching and holding the team accountable to scale the business successfully.

  • Lead and develop a back-office team spanning administration, estimating, billing, and bookkeeping.
  • Oversee financial reporting, reconciliations, AR/AP, cash flow, and working capital.
  • Review project profitability, job costing, WIP, margins, and potential margin leakage.
  • Strengthen the connection between estimating, field operations, project completion, and invoicing.
  • Improve billing processes and ensure projects are financially and operationally ready for invoicing.
  • Develop and implement practical SOPs, internal controls, and cross-training initiatives.
  • Improve visibility into project status, costs, revenue, and operational performance.
  • Partner with field and office teams to improve communication, accountability, and data accuracy.
  • Support estimating discipline, pricing, change orders, and estimate-to-actual analysis.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting to help leadership make informed business decisions.
  • Work with external accounting partners on tax, year-end, forecasting, and other accounting matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes as the organization continues to scale.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, operations or a related leadership role.
  • Experience in construction, trades, residential services or another project/service-based environment is an asset.
  • Strong accounting knowledge of AR, cash flow and financial reporting.
  • Experience with job costing, estimating concepts, WIP, project profitability or project-based accounting is highly valued.
  • Experience working with multi-entity or multi-location businesses an asset.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between field operations, project completion, invoicing and cash flow.
  • Demonstrated experience improving processes, implementing controls and documenting SOPs.
  • Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills and experience working with accounting and operational systems.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and/or BuilderTrend is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with both office and field employees.
Why this Opportunity?

Our client has a strong foundation, an established reputation and a proven track record in the Saskatchewan market. The business is growing, and this role will have meaningful influence over how the organization builds the systems and processes required for its next stage.
