Job summary

Metrolinx is seeking a co‑op student for the Settlement & Treasury team within Payments (PRESTO) Finance Operations. You will support reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting while working with experienced professionals on treasury activities.

You will gain hands‑on experience in finance operations, data analysis, and process improvements, with mentorship and exposure to large public sector financial systems and reporting tools.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full‑time in a recognized post‑secondary co‑op program and eligible to complete a co‑op work term as part of your academic requirements, with plans to return to school following the work term.
• Currently enrolled in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills, with the ability to work accurately with data.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate and balanced.
• Assist with preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation for financial transactions.
• Review and reconcile information from internal systems and external partners to support accurate financial reporting.
• Help maintain established financial controls, processes, and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase operational efficiency.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for the team.
• Organize, track, and maintain documentation related to financial and treasury processes.
• Provide administrative and analytical support on projects and initiatives.
