Job description

Located in Vaughan, ON., isure is Canada’s fastest-growing digital insurance brokerage, and we are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the accounting team within the brokerage. This role provides financial leadership, support, and analysis to the organization.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
  1. Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to design and implement financial policies and procedures, and take a leadership role in the financial management of the brokerage.
  2. Analyze financial information and prepare internal financial reports.
  3. Create and maintain financial controls and procedures for the finance/accounting department.
  4. Oversee the preparation of year-end financial statements and supporting documentation for tax filings.
  5. Develop and implement budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  6. Manage and monitor metrics, KPIs, and reports.
  7. Assess and understand risks associated with financial activities.
  8. Analyze market trends and provide data-driven recommendations.
  9. Coordinate with auditors to ensure proper monitoring of the company's finances.
  10. Oversee payroll processing and monthly commission payments.
  11. Supervise bank deposits, general ledger postings, and financial statements.
  12. Maintain a strong understanding of financial trends.
  13. Demonstrate project management skills to set and meet deadlines.
  14. Identify opportunities for cost reduction through reviews and evaluations.
  15. Monitor cash flow and advise on financial decisions and timing.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in Finance Operations or a related area.
  3. Knowledge of statutory legislation and regulations.
  4. Experience with full cycle accounting, including budgeting and forecasting.
  5. Experience with SIG XP is an asset.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  7. Strong internal controls and financial reporting skills.
  8. Advanced analytical accounting skills.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  10. Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
