Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the FinanceManager is responsible for leading, managing, planning, and overseeing thefinancial and accounting functions of Larga Baffin. The Finance Managerprovides financial leadership and ensures effective financial controls,accurate reporting, compliance, and sound financial practices across theorganization.
Key responsibilities include coordinating andpreparing for financial audits, overseeing financial reporting systems,evaluating and improving existing processes, and developing and implementingeffective financial policies, procedures, and controls within the Finance andAccounting departments.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combinesaccounting management, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, payrolloversight, compliance, financial analysis, and internal controls. The FinanceManager works collaboratively with all departments and partners closely withHuman Resources to support organizational operations, planning, anddecision-making.

KeyResponsibilities
Finance
- Ownfull-cycle accounting and month-end close for Larga Baffin, ensuring anaccurate and timely close each period.
- Reviewthe work prepared by the Accounts Receivable team and maintain high standardsfor AP, AR, reconciliations, and bookkeeping across the organization.
- Develop,implement, and continuously improve accounting processes, internal controls,and reporting frameworks.
- Reviewand assist with departmental budgeting preparation for the next fiscal year tobe submitted to the President and General Manager.
- Manageaccounting, reconciliations, and cost allocations across multiple departments.
- Overseecompliance, corporate tax, multi-province HST/GST/QST, and payroll remittances,and lead year-end review activities with our external accounting firm.
- Calculatemonthly HST remittance, file monthly HST remittance, and pay monthly HSTremittance.
- Supportbudgeting, cash-flow monitoring, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
- Reviewall receipts and invoices entered in Sage Intacct Accounting and reviewbudgeting.
- Manageaccounts receivable for recording monthly GN prepayment, monthly occupancyreport, record other ad-hoc invoices, record payment of invoices/deposits, andfollow-up with vendors on outstanding amounts.
- ManageRBC banking for entering bill payments in RBC Express, enter wire payments inRBC express, enter account transfers in RBC express, upload EFT files forpayment, print vendor cheques, and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Recordmonthly prepaid expenses and monthly amortization.
Payroll
- Overseefull cycle bi-weekly payroll in Payworks by ensuring all employee timesheetsentered correctly from the Payroll and Finance Coordinator.
- Reviewthe pay register in Payworks prior to submitting bi-weekly payroll to ensurethere are no discrepancies in employees paystubs.
- Managethe reconciliation and WSIB reports monthly, Union Dues reports monthly, recordpayroll in Sage Intacct Accounting by journal entry, process annual T4s inPayworks, reconcile annual WSIB, and annual Ontario EHT.
Management
- Provides direction and leadership to the Finance employees team.
- Prepares department schedules to meet the needs of Larga Baffin.
- Conducts ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation ofperformance management programs and activities for all direct reports.
- Consult with Human Resources of any staff issues or concerns i.e.absenteeism, lateness, poor performance, scheduling conflicts etc.
Minimum JobRequirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Hospitality and or relatedfield.
- CPA designation is an asset.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience,preferably including Inuit or Hospitality industry experience.
- Prior experience managing accounting staff.
- Payroll oversight experience.
- Proven leadership with a hands‑on approach.
- Excellent people skills, strong work ethic and ability to deliveraccurate work efficiently and in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills& Abilities
- Knowledge of Inuit culture and values is considered an asset.
- Ability to supervise employees by maintaining accountability amongstaff, coordinating work assignments, and motivating and training staff toconfidently perform their roles.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and working underpressure.
- Strong training, coaching and mentoring skills are essential.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with othermembers of the management team, external providers, and clients.
- Strong organization/decision-making skills and an aptitude forproblem solving.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal and communication skillsthat allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook, etc.).
- Working knowledge and/or experience with a Payworks and SageIntacct Accounting systems would be considered an asset.
PreferredQualifications
- Beneficiary status with the ability to speak Inuktitut would beconsidered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a medical or care facility would beconsidered an asset.
- Previous experience working in an Inuit organization would beconsidered an asset.
