Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Manager, Complex Accounting in Ottawa, Ontario. You will lead IFRS/ASPE research, supervise a finance team, and guide business units on complex transactions to ensure accurate reporting.

This role involves multi-entity consolidation, audits, and strategic input at the senior leadership level. CPA designation and 7+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

They are looking for a Manager, Complex Accounting who will lead technical accounting research, support complex transactions, and provide IFRS guidance across the organization. The role requires someone who can research emerging accounting issues, establish well-supported accounting positions, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.

About the Opportunity

• Manage planning, process, and review of complex financial transactions and accounting issues
• Proactively implement new accounting standards
• Act as an internal technical advisor, providing guidance to business units and finance teams
• Identify accounting issues and recommend process improvements
• Coordinate audits with external auditors for various entities
• Build strong relationships across business units and finance peers
• Lead change initiatives and support process automation for reporting
• Provide leadership to the team to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports
• Prioritize effectively to meet internal and external deadlines

About You

• CPA designation required
• 7+ years of progressive technical accounting experience involving IFRS/ASPE
• Experience in public practice and/or real estate is an asset
• Previous experience leading a team of finance professionals
• Strong ability to analyze complex issues and recommend solutions
• Proficiency in IFRS and ASPE with demonstrated technical application

Salary Range

$120,000 - $140,000/year

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
