Job description

Valsoft Corporation is seeking an experienced and dynamic Portfolio Controller to join our team!

The Portfolio Controller will report to the Portfolio Head of Finance. This individual will coordinate and manage period-end close, budgeting/forecasting, statutory compliance and reporting, integrations of new businesses, and ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis for a portfolio of acquired companies. Additionally, they will lead projects impacting accounting processes and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyze performance strategies, identify opportunities, and develop action plans to meet and exceed financial targets
• Drive financial planning by analyzing portfolio performance and risks using KPI frameworks
• Prepare monthly and quarterly business reviews highlighting results, remediation plans, and strategic initiatives
• Build and manage forecasts and track KPIs
• Monitor financial health and ensure positive cash flow
• Develop strategies to increase ROI and profitability
• Maintain high-level interaction with the corporate finance department
• Participate in processes related to the sale or acquisition of companies
• Apply Valsoft Finance best practices across the portfolio
• Own all financial responsibilities for acquired companies

Financial Reporting:

• Oversee and review accounting tasks, including tax and compliance
• Manage the monthly financial close process
• Prepare accurate financial reports and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
• Coordinate annual statutory audits and filings

Team Leadership and Development:

• Set targets and supervise finance personnel
• Develop a high-performing finance team fostering accountability and collaboration
• Train and coach team members

Financial Systems:

• Support Netsuite rollout and data integrity
• Identify automation opportunities and implement improvements

Integration Support:

• Develop and execute financial integration plans for acquisitions
• Manage ERP implementations, account mapping, and reporting standards
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy in reporting
• Handle purchase price allocations and monitor liabilities
• Create initial forecasts in partnership with acquired businesses
• Implement KPI management frameworks

Minimum Qualifications:

• Qualified accountant (ACCA) with a bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in team management
• Strong risk management and internal controls expertise
• Knowledge of business integration activities and conflicting stakeholder needs
• Fast learner with excellent time management skills
• Working knowledge of Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP systems
• Ability to visualize and implement efficient processes
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Fluency in English, written and verbal
