Job summary

Hansler Industries, part of Leavitt Industrial Group, is seeking a Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) for our Belle River, Ontario service team. You will diagnose, repair, and service a range of material handling equipment, coordinating with dispatch and customers to ensure timely completion of tasks.

The role requires 5+ years of repair experience, relevant Red Seal or Journeyperson ticket, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience.
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or Red Seal required.
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
• Aerial platform and lift truck experience is an asset.
• Strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
• High school diploma.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
• Maintain communication with Service Dispatcher on ongoing jobs and complete tasks timely.
• Discuss service details with customers and clarify job scope and repair requirements.
• Coordinate with Parts to order and prepare parts before visits.
• Maintain documentation such as work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Report safety incidents promptly and follow safety policies.

The Opportunity

Hansler Industriesis looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join our Service team in Belle River, Ontario. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

• At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

The base pay range for this role is: $42.44 to $46.68 per hour depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Belle River, Ontario.
