Job summary

Hansler Industries is seeking a Field Technician (Forklift or Heavy Equipment Mechanic) to join the Service team in Mississauga, Ontario. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will handle diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance for diverse equipment and communicate with customers and parts to ensure timely service.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy equipment or automotive repair, a Red Seal or journeyperson ticket, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience.
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Red Seal certification.
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
• Experience on Linde Forklifts is a strong asset.
• Experience with aerial platforms and lift trucks is an asset.
• High school diploma and a valid driver’s license with ability to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance and safety inspections on material handling equipment and machinery.
• Maintaining communication with the Service Dispatcher about ongoing jobs and completing tasks timely.
• Discussing job details with customers and clarifying repair requirements.
• Coordinating with Parts to order and prepare required parts before site visits.
• Maintaining documentation like work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Reporting safety incidents and adhering to safety policies.

The Opportunity

Hansler Industries is looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Forklift or Heavy Equipment Mechanic) to join our Service team in Mississauga, Ontario. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

• At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
• Previous experience working on Linde Forklifts would be a strong asset
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

The base pay range for this role is: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Mississauga, Ontario.
