Qualifications

• Diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology is an asset.
• Practical construction layout experience on civil infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on GPS/GNSS and rod/level equipment; proficiency with survey tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily survey priorities with the superintendent and coordinate layout with foreman, equipment operators, subcontractors, and the project team.
• Perform daily construction staking and layout using PCS/GNSS, and rod and level equipment with clear offsets and elevations.
• Lay out earthworks, verify road alignments, profiles, crossfalls, drainage and tie-ins.
• Lay out underground sewer, water and forcemain work, including trench alignment and pipe grades.
• Prepare and update survey layout files and machine control models from drawings and data.
• Import/export and manage survey data in CAD/DXF, CSV, PDF; keep field files organized and traceable.
• Establish and protect survey control and benchmarks; check instrument setups and coordinate systems.
• Collect as-built locations and elevations daily; prepare clear as-built files and turnover docs.
• Check machine control daily against survey control and report discrepancies.
• Complete survey quality control checks and support field inspection.
• Care for survey equipment and help improve survey tools and workflows.
• Perform general civil labour duties and assist construction crews as required.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
