Field Service Technician – High Voltage Systems

Position Overview:

Cormorant Utility Services’ Technical Services Group is seeking a skilled and dedicated High Voltage Service Technician/Technologist to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves ensuring the safe and efficient execution of services on complex electrical power installations. The position offers the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects within a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance testing and inspections of electrical installations, including switchgear, circuit breakers, power transformers, and related station equipment.
• Interpret electrical drawings and schematics as required.
• Assist in the construction and retrofitting of electrical installations, including protective relay systems.
• Adhere to industry Acceptance and Maintenance standards in all work activities.
• Maintain and update all required safety certifications.
• Adhere strictly to EPTCON and client safety protocols, ensuring that all site work is conducted safely and in full compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with the team lead to identify and mitigate potential hazards, implementing necessary engineering and administrative controls.
• Utilize hand tools and electrical testing equipment with high proficiency.
• Support the team lead in guiding projects to successful completion, offering technical input as necessary.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
• Prepare and organize tools, equipment, and materials for each assignment.
• Assist in the preparation and review of detailed reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an Electrical Technology program, an Electrical Apprenticeship, or equivalent work experience in the electrical field.
• 2 – 3 years of experience in low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems is essential.
• Experience with substation equipment testing, maintenance, and repairs is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
• In-depth knowledge of industry Acceptance and Maintenance standards.
• Valid Driver’s License
