Job summary

Walker is seeking a Field Operations Specialist to oversee landfill infrastructure, leachate, odour control, SCADA/PLC systems, and related field equipment. The role is hands-on, coordinating with contractors to ensure reliability, compliance, and environmental performance.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will monitor data, maintain pumps and control systems, support budgets, and lead continuous improvement while ensuring safety and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years in landfill, waste management, water/wastewater, environmental or similar field operations.
• Valid G Class Driving Licence; working knowledge of SCADA/PLC-based control systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, and performance of site infrastructure and systems.
• Monitor leachate levels and pumping data to support regulatory compliance and performance.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations.
