Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Calgary is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician to repair and maintain construction and forestry equipment and attachments. You will diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and document all actions taken.

The role requires strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems, plus diagnostic skills and experience with hand tools and service software. Safety is a priority and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Demonstrated diagnostic skills for battery and engine-powered equipment.
• Experience with hand tools, measuring devices and electrical/electronic diagnostics.
• Experience with lifting/rigging and maintenance of industrial equipment is a plus.
• Ability to document actions and time on work orders with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate working condition of heavy duty equipment and diagnose issues.
• Disassemble/assemble and repair equipment and attachments as required.
• Order parts and use parts catalogs; road test equipment and verify operation.
• Document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis in computer systems.
• Maintain safety standards and document hazards on service tasks.
• Utilize service software to track service tasks and outcomes.

Brandt is currently seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician for our Calgary location. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel; Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and propane systems.
• Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine powered material handling equipment.
• Experience with the use of hand tools and measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements.
• Knowledge and experience with industrial equipment that includes lifting/rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment.
• Exposure to aligning equipment, using dial indicators/calipers, micrometers, hoists or jacks is a plus.
• Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
• Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Automotive, Truck/Transport) considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
