Job summary

Catholic Social Services in Wetaskiwin is seeking a part-time Community Mentor (20 hours/week) to join the Children’s Residential Services team. You will provide direct outreach and support to individuals with FASD, promoting understanding and coping strategies while assisting families and caregivers.

Responsibilities include case file management, coordinating with community resources, and advocating for clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12/high school diploma required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with individuals and families.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex and high behaviours.
• Valid First Aid and CPR.
• Vulnerable Sector Check issued by RCMP or City Police.
• Child Intervention Record Check required.
• Clear and current driver abstract and vehicle for client transport.
• Proof of vehicle insurance and registration for insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct outreach support to individuals suspected of or diagnosed with FASD.
• Offer emotional support and information to promote understanding.
• Assist with strategies for individuals and their support networks.
• Model life skills and appropriate social interventions.
• Maintain confidential case files and liaise with service agencies.
