The Lakeland Centre for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder has beenprovidingDiagnostic, Intervention and Prevention ofFASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)services since 2000. We are known across the province and nationwide for our novel, non-judgmental, supportive services.

Our Mission: Toestablishand ensure thataccurateinformation about FASD, and effective prevention, diagnosis and support services are available in the region.

About the Role:

The FASD Client Resource Navigator is a member of the Lakeland Centre for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (LCFASD) team, with specific direction in providing post-diagnostic support services.

This is an outreach position that requires flexibility, ability to manage shifting priorities, and frequent travel. The FASD Client Resource Navigator provides case management to multiple individuals and their families.

The FASD Client Resource Navigator will be expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge on emerging trends, evidence-based approaches, and best practices within the human services and FASD fields.

The FASD Client Resource Navigator will perform all duties and responsibilities while maintaining the integrity of the LCFASD, confidentiality and all other policies outlined in the Policy & Procedures manual.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Assist families/caregivers, agencies, schools and communities to best meet the child’s needs post-diagnosis.
  • Support families/caregivers to follow through with the recommendations developed by Diagnostic Team.
  • Connect families/individuals with community support services.
  • Assist schools and/or community agencies in developing program and problem-solving strategies to meet the child’s needs.
  • Strengthen family and client advocacy skills.
  • Provide education and training to parents, caregivers, support persons and community support services with whom the child is involved.
  • Apply policy and follow organizational procedures.
  • Completion of program required documentation, including continued conversations of informed consent and rights with clients.
  • Gather and maintain statistical information.
  • Facilitate promotion of FASD Outreach and other LCFASD programs including presentations at conferences, workshops, in-house trainings or attending local interagency
  • Attend community events as required.
About You:
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a human services field or equivalent combination of education,training,and relevant experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related community-based experience.
  • Culturally competent.
  • Demonstrated experience inmaintaininga high degree of confidentiality andsetting appropriateprofessional boundaries.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computerproficiencyin Microsoft Office including Outlook and Word.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening).
  • Child Intervention Record Check.
  • A current Class 5 driver’s license, satisfactory driver’s abstract and good insurance history is necessary to be insured by LCFASD, as transportation of individuals accessing LCFASD Outreach Services is required
  • This position will require driving and use of personal vehicle when the LCFASD vehicle is not available.
  • Proof of third-party insurance in the amount of 2 million dollars is required
Assets
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder will be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, at-risk populations, and knowledge of barriers to employment will be considered an asset.
  • Experiencing working with First Nation, Inuit or Métis Peoples considered an asset.

Benefits of working with LCFASD:

Salary: Annual wage between $47,500 – $51,000

Schedule: 36.25 hours per week. Overtime may be required.
