A leading company in the agricultural sector is seeking a Farm Manager to oversee daily operations, manage a diverse team, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The role involves coordinating crop production, leading maintenance efforts, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, along with experience in staff development and performance management.
The Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing daily farm activities, leading maintenance efforts, and managing a diverse team to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operations.
Reporting to the CEO, this role coordinates crop production and facility upkeep, drives process improvements, and ensures adherence to agricultural best practices.
The manager will also play a key role in staff development, performance management, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Role
1. Farm Operations & Maintenance
Oversee the day-to-day farm operations, including meetings, crop walks, alarms, etc.
Communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, customers, and consultants under guidance from the Head Grower and CEO.
Provide regular status update reports to CEO to monitor farm operation and maintenance KPIs.
Coordinate crop planting and cleanout activities.
Lead or support execution of special projects, including developing and implementing new systems, procedures, and process improvements.
Oversee ongoing maintenance tasks and repairs across facilities, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption. Maintenance includes infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, housing, and grounds.
Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs and inventory management.
Require good mechanical and electrical skills.
Manage and support the Farm Team to ensure efficient workflow and deliverables.
Train, coach, and mentor supervisory staff—including growers, IPM technicians, and operational leads—on agricultural practices, equipment operation, safety, and procedures, including weekly one-on-ones to support corporate goals.
Develop and implement training matrices for continuous improvement.
Evaluate supervisor performance, monitor team productivity and quality, and provide actionable feedback.
Coordinate with supervisors and HR on labour planning, recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training of offshore and local labour.
Address workforce-related issues to promote a safe, inclusive, and productive environment.
Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability by leading initiatives to enhance efficiency and communication.
3. Compliance & Administration
Support budget planning and oversight for maintenance, supplies, and equipment.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to standards and legal requirements.
Perform other duties as needed to support company objectives and operational excellence.
