Job summary

NONA Child Development Centre is seeking a casual Behaviour Interventionist to support children in the Autism Services Program. You will help participants engage in program activities and follow individualized plans created by the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, recording progress, and collaborating with colleagues. The role requires physical ability and a valid driver’s license, with Monday–Friday hours and occasional evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum six months recent related experience working with neurodivergent children and youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct intervention, individually and in groups, to children/youth in the ASP according to the plan.
  • Prepare materials for the child/youth's program (e.g., LessonPix materials or visual supports).
  • Collect data via observations and record progress on the Individual Program Plan, sharing updates with the team.
  • Collaborate within a team and actively participate in team meetings with input on progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB POSTING:

Casual, Behaviour Interventionist

JOB SUMMARY:

Working within the Autism Services Program (ASP), the casual Behaviour Interventionist will assist children to participate in program activities outlined in the child's behaviour plan, as developed by an interdisciplinary team.

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Autism Services Program Manager

Education, Training & Experience:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six months recent related experience working with neurodivergent children and youth
KNOWLEDGE, Skills & Abilities:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and follow planned programs
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a team
  • Computer competence, including Microsoft 365 applications
  • Ability to adapt in dynamic and fast-paced environments
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct intervention, both individually and within a group setting, to children/youth in the ASP, assisting them to participate in program activities and follow the individualized plan as determined and directed by the interdisciplinary team
  • Prepare materials for the child/youth's program, such as LessonPix materials or visual supports
  • Collect data through observations, record the child/youth's progress on their Individual Program Plan, and share updates with the interdisciplinary team
  • Work collaboratively within a team and actively participate in team meetings by providing input on the child/youth's progress
  • Other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including but not limited to lifting, bending, sitting, standing, and responding quickly as needed
  • Consent to Criminal Record Check through the BC Criminal Records Review Program
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation
START DATE:

As soon as possible

DAYS & HOURS:

Monday to Friday, 8:10 am to 4:10 pm.Some evening or weekend hours may be required occasionally, depending on program needs.

WAGE:

Grid Level 20 ($27.91 - $29.60 per hour) per HSA Community Subsector Collective Agreement.
