Job summary

Oceanside Health Centre Urgent Care on Vancouver Island is expanding its physician team. The site operates 07:30–21:30 daily with physicians on 8-hour shifts, providing urgent and emergent medical care. Onsite imaging, limited labs, and a broad formulary support acute care delivery.

Start date is as soon as possible, with flexible full-time, part-time, or casual opportunities. Physicians collaborate with emergency-trained RNs and other staff; CTAS triage guides patient flow.

Qualifications

• Licensed physician; comfortable providing acute emergent care.
• Experience in urgent care or emergency settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide urgent and emergent medical care in a multidisciplinary Urgent Care setting.
• Triage patients according to CTAS and see them with physicians and RNs.
• Utilize onsite imaging and limited lab services to support patient care.

Job description

Role and Facility Information

The Oceanside Health Centre Urgent Care is a multidisciplinary environment with physicians, and emergency-trained RNs that provides urgent and emergent medical care to the Oceanside area on Vancouver Island. The Urgent Care is open from 0730-2130 daily and physicians usually work 8-hour shifts. Emergency certification is not required, but physicians working here should be comfortable providing acute emergent care. Patients are triaged by trained RNs according to the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) and are seen by either a physician. There is onsite medical imaging with x-ray and ultrasound and limited lab services are available via point-of-care testing. There is a large formulary of IV, oral and other medications as well as casting and splinting equipment. There are no overnight beds. Patients requiring a higher level of care are transferred to the regional referral hospital, which is 30 minutes away and has a no-refusal policy.

Compensation Type Fee-for-Service Physician Overhead 11% of FFS over base compensation
