Job summary

Namgis First Nation seeks a physician to join Namgis Health on Cormorant Island, Alert Bay. The role includes ER coverage, clinic work with two physicians and a multidisciplinary team, and inpatient as well as long-term care on the reserve.

Housing can be provided. RSA-based incentives may apply, including recruitment incentive, relocation funding, and CME support. Start date as soon as possible.

Job description

Role and Facility Information

The Namgis First Nation is looking for a physician to join the Namgis Health team. The physician will work in clinic with 2 physicians and other health team members: including 2 community care nurses, 2 mental health workers, addictions counselors and a social worker. There are also visiting occupational therapists, social work, mental health, intensive case managers and a midwife. Additionally, visiting specialists include Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry.

The position requires ER coverage, inpatient hospital care and long-term patient care. Both the clinic and hospital are located on the Namgis First Nations reserve. The position is salaried, and housing can be provided.

The Namgis are a forward-thinking people who are deeply invested in the health care of their community and, by extension, the health care of Alert Bay and surrounding peoples.

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Recruitment Incentive: $20,000 (full-time)
• Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Fee Premium: 23.94%
• Annual Flat Fee: $37,100.16
• Rural CME: starting at $1,320/annum 2 years or less in the community, increasing to $3,520/annum in year 3 & 4 to a maximum of $5,720/annum after 4 years.
