Northern Health is seeking a Family Practice-Anesthetist to join a small team in Fort St. John, BC. The role includes 2 OR days per week, 1 in 5 anesthesia call, with emergency shifts or primary care filling remaining days. Locums are also available.

Northern Health is seeking an experienced Family Practice-Anesthetist to join a team of four FPAs in Fort St. John, a vibrant Northern city with a young and growing population!

Work 2 days/week in the OR, plus Anesthesia call 1/5 days. Emergency shifts or Primary Care can fill the remaining days.

Fort St John Hospital is a new state of the art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 23,000, with a catchment area of approximately 70,000. The ER has over 25,000 visits per year.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, an artisan butcher shop, all major grocery stores, and a health food store. It is the cultural and commercial hub of the Northeast, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre.

Recreational opportunities in the Fort St. John area include speed-skating (on one of only four indoor Olympic-sized, long-track speed skating ovals in North America!), indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, walking trails, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, curling, and hockey. Fort St. John always has something for you to do whether it's summer or winter!

Fort St John Regional Airport offers numerous daily direct flights to Calgary and Vancouver on Westjet and Air Canada.

Fort St John has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one private school (K-12). The University of Northern British Columbia and Northern Lights College provide post‑secondary education.

• Vacation Leave Regular/negotiable May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 21.70% Retention Flat Fee $33,629 Relocation Funding Available $9,000 - $15,000 (TBD) Recruitment Incentive $20,000 Other Benefits/Incentives REEF (Rural Emergency Enhancement Funding) available when covering ER shifts. This is on top of MSP billings and MOCAP payments. MOCAP (Medical On Call Availability Program) available on top of MSP billings. Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) available. Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) available. Moving allowance available: $9,000 if moving within BC; $12,000 if moving within Canada but outside of BC; $15,000 if moving from outside of Canada.
