The Facility Supervisor, Maintenance provides a high standard of building maintenance, providing quality experiences and ensures the safety of members. Working as an integral part of the centre staff team in relationship building and connecting with members, ensures excellent member relations and rapport in day-to-day interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake preventative maintenance and repairs to building equipment, respond to work orders including painting, HVAC Equipment, fire safety and emergency equipment, locker maintenance, floor surfacing, etc. Take appropriate action to rectify any problem, including coordinating third party contractors. Perform building and equipment repairs as required.
- Ensure the safe and continual operation of pools, whirlpools, saunas, and steam rooms; include related equipment, chemicals, and cleanliness as required by relevant legislation, taking appropriate action relating to repairs.
- Contact contractors as required; provide direct supervision of contractors while repairs are being performed; coordinate with Facility Manager.
- Assist with materials management relating to building supplies, ensure inventory levels are adequate and materials are ordered and replaced as required. Provide support to Facility Manager with development and maintenance of department budgets.
- Assist Facility Manager with staff recruitment, orientation, coordination, training, scheduling, and support. Provide assistance and leadership in the completion of hourly pay, using time and labour management software.
- Perform light duty cleaning, project cleaning, general cleaning, snow removal, and laundry service.
- Ensure the safety of all members, property, and self by following established Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures and adhering to all YMCA of Greater Toronto policies and Priority SAM cleaning and maintenance standards.
- Respond to all emergencies in the facility and report any and all maintenance issues to the Facility Manager. Function as building operator in the absence of Facility Manager; perform opening and/or closing center coverage; perform Acting General Manager shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:

- Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services

Qualifications:
- Completion of courses offered as part of the Building Operator Certificate is an asset, or equivalent experience.
- Pool Operator Certificate preferred (certification must be obtained within first three months), or equivalent experience.
- Standard First Aid and CPR; other Health & Safety certifications and/or knowledge is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience in skilled trades and/or building maintenance, preferably in areas like Electrical/Plumbing, Operating Engineering/Pneumatics, Mechanical HVAC, and Pool filtration/water chemistry.
- Experience in pool operation an asset.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills developed through progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role, encouraging and motivating staff and volunteers, acknowledging and appreciating contributions, and actively involving oneself in partnerships and collaborations.
- High School education with willingness to increase knowledge and skills in this area.
- Excellent organization skills, including basic computer skills (Excel, Email, Internet, Building Automation Systems).
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills, capable of establishing rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.
- Understanding of YMCA business practices and procedures is an asset.
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity, including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design
