Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Facility Operator at the Judy Creek facility, AB, to run daily waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection operations. The role requires strong safety focus, clear communication with customers, and daily coordination with a fast-paced team.

Based 60 km northeast of Whitecourt, you’ll work an 8 days on / 6 days off schedule with 12-hour day shifts, ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting ongoing plant maintenance and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in waste processing, oil treating, and water injection is an asset.
• Training in boilers, pumps, shaker/centrifuge and loader is an asset.
• Current safety tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work long hours in a demanding environment.
• Clear documentation and cross-shift communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and successful pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the facility and ensure safe, customer‑focused service.
• Unload trucks and manage oil emulsion, water and vac trucks.
• Operate oil treating systems, treaters, coolers and tank treating equipment.
• Handle waste processing, waste and mud tank operations, shaker and centrifuge tasks.
• Manage receipt, storage and transport of crude oil, ensuring compliance with quality rules.
• Maintain water injection, change filters and perform pump maintenance.
• Treat solids on the waste pad and conduct boiler operations and steam system work.
• Ensure compliance programs are followed and complete daily checklists.
• Submit truck tickets summary and office balance transfers; participate in HSMS.
• Support safety culture and maintain plant cleanliness and safe operations.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As Facility Operator, you are responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection. You actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs, and environmental protection, while maintaining regular communication with customers. Given the high level of customer interaction, strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional service are essential.

This position is based at our Judy Creek facility, approximately 60 km northeast of Whitecourt, AB.

Work Environment

This position follows an 8 days on / 6 days off schedule and consists of 12-hour day shifts.

A Day in The Life

• Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the facility
• Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks
• Perform oil treating activities using treaters, coolers, and tank treating systems.
• Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
• Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
• Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
• Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
• Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
• Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
• Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
• Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
• Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)
• Following water injection SOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity
• General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in waste processing, oil treating, and water injection an considered an asset
• Training in boilers, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
• Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG
• A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
• Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure clear communication with the rest of the team
• Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
• A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
• Strong attention to detail
• Be able to manage multiple priorities and have good time management skills
