Job summary

SECURE is hiring a Facility Operator at our Rocky Mountain House, AB site to manage day-to-day waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection operations. You will support SOPs, hazard assessments, safety programs, and customer communications in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong communication, safety ticket credentials, and the ability to work a 12-hour shift on a 7-on/7-off rotating schedule, days and nights. Relevant boiler and pump training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Operational experience in waste processing, oil treating or water injection is a strong asset
• Waste management operations experience is an asset
• Specialized boiler, treater, pump, shaker/centrifuge, loader training is an asset
• Current safety tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS, TDG
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, ability to work long hours in a demanding environment
• Ability to document work and communicate across shifts with multiple stakeholders
• Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot issues while ensuring safety

Responsibilities

• Oil treating with treater, cooler or tank treating
• Participating in waste processing and solids treatment
• Managing receipt, storage and transport of crude oil with compliance

• Ensuring compliance programs are followed
• Submitting daily tickets, plant checks and transfers
• Participating in HSMS
• Waste plant operation meeting landfill criteria

As Facility Operator, you are responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection. You actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs, and environmental protection, while maintaining regular communication with customers. Given the high level of customer interaction, strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional service are essential.

Work Environment

This position operates on a 12-hour shift schedule, working 7 days on, 7 days off with a rotating schedule of days and nights.

A Day in The Life

• Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
• Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks
• Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
• Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
• Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
• Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
• Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
• Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
• Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
• Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
• Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
• Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)
• Following water injection SOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity
• General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
• Operational experience in waste processing, oil treating or water injection is considered a strong asset
• Waste management operations experience is considered a strong asset
• Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
• Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG
• A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
• Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
• Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
• A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
