Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Facility Operator for its La Glace, AB site to manage day-to-day operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. The role requires strong safety adherence, customer service, and hands-on operation experience.

You will work a 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights) on a 7/7 rotation, interacting with customers and internal teams. A High School Diploma or equivalent and safety tickets are required, with emphasis on communication and teamwork.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment and to document work and communicate across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate the facility on a day-to-day basis with safety and customer service focus.
• Unloading trucks and handling oil emulsion; operating water and vac trucks.
• Operate oil treating with treater, cooler or tank treating; participate in waste processing and solids treating.
• Ensure receipt, storage and transport of crude oil in compliance with measurements and quality controls.
• Maintain water injection, perform pump maintenance and boiler operations; keep plant clean and compliant.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Facility Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. The Operator will actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection. The Operator will be in constant contact with customers and must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

This position is located in La Glace, AB.

Work Environment

This position is a 12 hour shift with 7 days on and 7 days off, alternating between days and nights.

A Day in The Life

• Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
• Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks
• Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
• Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
• Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
• Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
• Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
• Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
• Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
• Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
• Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
• Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)
• Following water injection SOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity
• General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years operational experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection
• Midstream terminal operations experience is considered a strong asset
• Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
• Proven ability to demonstrate strong methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations, oil treating & blending, waste processing and water disposal
• Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG
• A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
• Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
• Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
• A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
