Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Facility Operator to manage daily waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection operations at the Kakwa Full Service Terminal, south of Grande Prairie. The role includes ensuring safety, SOP adherence, and timely communications with customers and teams.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years in waste processing/oil treating, strong safety credentials, and the ability to work long shifts in a demanding environment with camp accommodations available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years operational experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection.
• Safety tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work long hours in a demanding environment.
• Ability to document work and communicate across shifts.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of the facility.
• Unloading trucks, oil emulsion and water handling.
• Oil treating with treater, cooler or tank treating.
• Receive, store and transport crude oil per compliance.
• Oil blending, sampling, and pipeline operations.
• Operate glycol boiler.
• Maintain safety programs and compliance.
• Submit tickets, daily plant checklists, and transfers to the office.
• Participate in HSMS and follow SOPs.
• General maintenance and housekeeping of the plant.

The Facility Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. The Operator will actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection. The Operator will be in constant contact with customers and must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

This position is located 40 minutes south of Grovedale, AB at the Kakwa Full Service Terminal and has available camp accommodations.

This position is located at SECURE's Kakwa Full Service Terminal, south of Grande Prairie and is a 12-hour shift with a rotating 7x7 schedule. Camp accommodations are available.

• Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
• Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water
• Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
• Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
• Responsible for oil blending, sampling, and pipeline operations
• Conducting boiler operations of a glycol boiler
• Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
• Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
• Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
• Following all SOP’s and best practices
• General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe
• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years operational experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection
• Midstream terminal operations experience is considered a strong asset
• Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
• Proven ability to demonstrate strong methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations, oil treating & blending, waste processing and water disposal
• Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG
• A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
• Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
• Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
• Must have a valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
