Job summary

U-Haul in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to support building maintenance and repairs across multiple sites. You will collaborate with fellow technicians to install, inspect, and service systems while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, hands-on use of hand and power tools, and a commitment to continuous learning through U-Haul University. On-call weekend and night shifts are compensated.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical, A/C, HVAC, plumbing or landscaping.
• Valid driver’s license.
• DOT certification (can be sponsored by U-Haul).
• Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and build new buildings.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections at various sites.
• Effectively work with a variety of hand/power tools.
• Pool knowledge with other Facility Maintenance Technicians to accomplish complex projects.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Keep track of company records, fuel logs, and time invoices. Company fuel card provided.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
• Situations arise for emergency repairs such as floods and disasters. On call shifts for weekends and nights paid for.
• Working independently to complete tasks, and weekly work plans.
• Creative problem solving, trouble shooting, and proactive task completion.

Facility Maintenance Technician Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in any of the following areas: electrical, A/C, HVAC, plumbing or landscaping
• Valid driver’s license
• D.O.T certification (can be sponsored by U-Haul)
• Must be 18 or older

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
