Base pay range

CA$28.00/hr - CA$35.00/hr

Tenure - Full Time, Permanent

Title - Facility Building Maintenance

Location - Brampton, ON

Hours - 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday, including on-call shifts

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team in Brampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, upkeep, and safety of the facility by performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong problem-solving abilities and knowledge of building systems, safety protocols, and preventative maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a safe working environment by adhering to Health & Safety regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and Environmental Management System policies and procedures.
  • Facility Inspections: Conduct daily inspections of building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and structural components, addressing any identified issues promptly.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues before they lead to major breakdowns.
  • Repair minor electrical problems, such as faulty switches and broken light fixtures.
  • Handle plumbing issues, including leaky faucets, clogged drains, and pipe repairs.
  • Repair doors, windows, flooring, and drywall as required.
  • Address HVAC concerns by replacing filters and troubleshooting temperature control issues.
  • Facility Upkeep: Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of common areas, exterior grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance and service calls, taking necessary corrective actions.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replacement and restocking.
  • Contractor Supervision: Oversee and coordinate external contractors for major repair projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure building operations align with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Implement cost-saving measures and sustainability improvements.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct leader.

Key QualificationsEducation & Certifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using basic tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, health and safety practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain positive, professional, and strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in using computer software and technology.
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, responsibility, and ability to operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call shifts.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
