Qualifications

Job Title

Building Maintenance Technician

Job Description Summary

The Building Operator performs a wide variety of maintenance, repair, minor alterations, and service functions. They operate and maintain designated buildings and related equipment, handle major emergencies, and maximize predictive and preventative maintenance activities. The position will be assigned to the Peel Memorial Health Centre, as a member of Honeywell’s FM Services team.

Job Details

Salary: $33.50/hr (negotiable)

Location: Brampton

Shift Schedule: Morning shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Due to our client’s requirement, this position requires employees to provide acceptable documentation showing full vaccination at the time of employment.

Qualifications

• BES I & II Certification is required
• BC Trade Qualification (mechanical, electrical, millwright, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)
• 3+ years’ work experience as a Building Operator or Stationary Engineer
• Work experience in a healthcare facility is preferred but not required
• Ability to obtain/maintain CPIC clearance and immunization following Client requirements and the Public Health Act.

Important Experience

• 2+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems including machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, grounds equipment, and HVAC
• Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices
• Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems
• Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and perform painting on walls, piping, floors, and equipment
• Evaluate and recommend upgrades to maintenance operations or savings opportunities
• Use and care of tools and equipment for facility and ground maintenance
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer service requests
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, perform preventative maintenance
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and pumps
• Perform carpentry and snow removal as needed
• Comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices
• Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems
• Complete all scheduled safety training and adhere to dress code

Additional Qualifications

• Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or related fields
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word

May be the only maintenance staff on duty during certain shifts, may work extended hours or standby as required.

Physical Demands

Requires communication, operation of office machinery, movement within the workplace, and physical activity such as extending arms and moving about.

The compensation for the position is: $34.67 per hour.
