Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay invites applications for the role of Manager Facilities Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across arenas, stadia, aquatic facilities, and corporate buildings. You will drive asset and energy management, safety, and regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of respect and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering and eligible for registration as a Facility Management Professional, plus 6 years of management experience in facility maintenance.
• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma with Red Seal and eligible for registration as a Facility Management Professional, plus 7 years of management experience.
• Facilities Management Diploma with a minimum of ten years of management experience in facility maintenance and operations.
• Knowledge of lifecycle management for corporate facility assets including refrigeration, aquatic operations, HVAC, life safety, and security.
• Experience managing in large unionized government or private sector organizations.
• Knowledge of HR management, budget development, financial management, and procurement.
• Knowledge of municipal by-laws, provincial legislation, and related regulations.
• Proficiency using IT to support asset management, financial reporting, data analysis, and communications.
• Experience facilitating organizational change and transformation.
• Strong understanding of risk management and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Facilities Services with focus on public safety, security, and preventive maintenance.
• Lead budgeting for operating and capital needs across corporate facilities.
• Serve as corporate lead for TSSA licensing, asbestos and hazardous substances management under OHSA.
• Liaise with internal divisions, other municipalities, government agencies, and community groups; manage media relations on division topics.
