Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking an on-site Recreation Facilities Supervisor to lead staff across city recreation facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and smooth operations.

You will coordinate events, rentals, and staff scheduling while maintaining excellent public service and adherence to municipal policies. A post-secondary background in recreation or sport management is expected, with prior supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in recreation, event, sport management, tourism, human services or public or business administration.
• Experience in special events and sport administration and working with the community and volunteer organizations preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• On-site leadership and supervision to staff in City recreation facilities; assess compliance with laws and by-laws, health and safety, and work performance.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations and assign work; monitor rentals and serve as on-site contact.
• Assist with staff training and scheduling of part-time employees at community centres and facilities.
• Open/close facilities and ensure cleanliness, safety, and emergency readiness.
• Respond to inquiries, coordinate facility during emergencies and prepare required reports.
