What success looks like

• Prepare cost estimates and submissionsfor program and contract approvals. Prepare tender packages and coordinatetender calls; review and evaluate bids. Prepare requests for proposals;participate in selection of consultants.
• Coordinate and administer facilityconstruction activities: Inspect and record construction activities andprogress. Prepare and/or check progress claims. Prepare and recommend approvalof change orders and contract extensions. Approve on-site construction changes.Oversee, liaise, instruct and approve all phases of consulting work. Prepareproject cost and progress reports.
• Liaise with tenants and stakeholders toensure coordination of projects; facilitate communication among task groups byinteracting with management and with project teams to ensure successfulcompletion of project work.
• Coordinate project close-out data andcoordinate with Asset Management Team to select relevant data for input toVFPA’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (IAMS)
• Assist the Manager, to oversee theproject plan to ensure projects are executed, monitored, and controlledeffectively.
• Provide support and expertise todepartment projects as directed.
• Maintain constructive relationships withtenants and stakeholders, and with project design and construction teams.
• Organize and/or carry out assetinspections and assessments.
• Report oninspection/assessment results and recommend follow-up actions. Work with AssetManagement Team to ensure recording of appropriate data, including schedulingof recommended follow-up actions.
• Review tenant project plans to identifypossible impacts on the facility and other scheduled projects. Ensurecompliance with lease agreements and administrative requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, recommend, andimplement process improvements to enhance efficiencies.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

What you bring:

• Must have atwo-year full-time technical diploma from a recognized educational institutionalong with a minimum of 3 years of related experience in capital andmaintenance project administration and coordination, and asset management.
• Includingproject planning, design, construction supervision and contract administration.
• A PMPdesignation and facility experience is considered an asset.
• Must haveexcellent computer skills including databases, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Must be a team playerwith excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to workeffectively and positively with all contacts, internally and externally. Mustbe able to work independently, accurately and on own initiative to maintainwork output with minimum supervision.
• Must be a highlyorganized and detail-oriented individual who can manage competing priorities.Must have excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.

Salary

The starting rate for thisposition is $60.13 per hour, with scheduled wage progression in accordance withthe International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 517 collectiveagreement. Based on a 40-hour work week.
