The Opportunity
Deveraux Apartment Communities is actively seeking an individual to lead its Edmonton Facilities team, including maintenance, and landscaping/seasonal associates. Deveraux offers professional property management services across its portfolio of over 5700 apartment units. As a Facilities Manager you will ensure that Deveraux Apartment Communities’ grounds, common areas, apartment buildings and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. You will achieve this objective by leading a team of professional team members with responsive action, quality workmanship, professionalism and proactive planning. The Facilities Manager will lead by example and develop processes to support execution and excellence. Preference will be given to candidates with previous multi-family residential property management/facilities experience.

What you bring...
- Experience in recruiting quality personnel and building a high functioning team.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate a dynamic team

- Knowledge of building mechanical systems including proper maintenance practices.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in providing professional client care Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities accordingly
- Experience in procurement of materials and supplies
- Experience with Yardi Voyager (property management software) will be considered an asset
- Technology proficiency, including basic experience with Microsoft Office and Teams, and ability to utilize other supplementary software tools
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license (abstract will be required)
- Proficiency in written and verbal English
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the multifamily residential industry would be considered an asset
You will...
- Strategically collaborate with the Director of Operations and the Director of Facilities on an ongoing basis to execute the goals and objectives of the organization
- Problem-solve dynamic situations with customer satisfaction as a guiding principle
- Collaborate on and assist in the oversight of small capital improvement projects, ensuring timeliness and quality workmanship
- Conduct inspections of properties including vacant apartments, building common areas, and mechanical to identify any concerns or deficiencies and reporting back to various internal stakeholders.
- Lead a team of Facilities Technicians through feedback, mentorship, and professional development
- Participate in the recruitment and hiring of all Facilities personnel
- Set and maintain expectations for daily, weekly, monthly property condition reporting, while modeling and communicating Deveraux standards
- Collaborate with the Facilities support personnel to ensure preventative maintenance is scheduled and completed in a timely and proactive manner
- Schedule and support the on-call responsibilities of the Facilities team
- Communicate and engage with Residents as required
- Engage vendors, acquiring and reviewing competing quotes for contractor-led work
- Maintain a ‘Class A’ impression of common areas and exterior grounds at all times
- Provide feedback and input as part of a commitment to continuous improvement
- Hours of work – Monday to Friday, evening and weekend work as needed
