Job summary

K Dakota Dunes Thermal Spa in Saskatoon is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs across our pools, HVAC, electrical, and wellness systems. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and collaboration with other departments to minimize guest disruptions.

Ideal candidates bring relevant trade certificates, strong hands-on skills, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Fireman Boiler Operator Certificate is required.
• Willing to obtain Refrigeration Plant Operator within six months.
• Certified Pool Operators Certificate is preferred; willing to obtain within six months.
• WHMIS certification is preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections according to manufacturer, regulatory, and facility requirements.
• Responds to work orders, alarms, leaks, temp issues, lighting problems, plumbing concerns, door/lock issues, and other facility needs.
• Troubleshoots equipment and completes repairs within scope; escalates to qualified contractors when required.
• Supports pool and thermal system operation, water features, pumps, filtration, heating, ventilation, and controls as assigned.

Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performspreventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting throughoutDakota Dunes Thermal Spa to support safe, reliable, and uninterruptedoperations. This position responds to preventative maintenance schedules andmaintenance requests in a timely manner and works collaboratively with alldepartments to minimize disruptions to guests and daily operations.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will befamiliar with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pool, HVAC, controls,life-safety, kitchen, laundry, and specialty wellness systems through reviewingmanuals, warranties, service agreements and vendor contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Completescheduled preventative maintenance and documented inspections according tomanufacturer, regulatory, and facility requirements.
• Respondpromptly to work orders, equipment alarms, leaks, temperature issues, lightingproblems, plumbing concerns, door/lock issues, and other facility needs.
• Troubleshootequipment and complete repairs within scope; escalattributed specialized work toqualified contractors when required.
• Supportpool and thermal system operation, water-feature equipment, pumps, filtration,heating, ventilation, and controls as assigned and trained.
• Maintainaccurate maintenance logs, meter readings, repair records, parts usage, andequipment history.
• Coordinatewith other departments to minimize guest disruption during repairs andmaintenance.
• Maintaintools, workshops, mechanical rooms, and storage areas in safe, clean andorganized conditions.
• FollowOccupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, lockout/tagout, confined-space,electrical, chemical handling, and other applicable procedures.
• Identifyhazards, equipment deterioration, water intrusion, slip risks, or unsafeconditions and take immediate action within authority.
• Support inspections,emergency response, fire/life-safety testing, and regulatory compliance.
• Useappropriate personnel protective equipment and ensure contractors follow sitesafety requirements.
• Recommendreliability, energy efficiency, water conservation, and lifecycle improvementsbased on observed equipment performance.
• Participatein equipment commissioning, deficiency reviews, system testing, asset tagging, andturnover from contractors.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• FiremanBoiler Operator Certificate is required.
• RefrigerationPlant Operator in preferred; willing to obtain within six months.
• CertifiedPool Operators Certificate is preferred; willing to obtain within six months.
• Knowledgeof basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Familiaritywith safety regulations and procedures.
• Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability tostand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and perform physicallydemanding work; and exposure to varying temperatures.
• Ability towork independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• WHMIScertification is preferred.
• First Aideand CPR certification is preferred.
• Validdriver's license is required.
• Ability towork flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shiftsas required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Rate of pay range is $27.00 to $30.00 per hour; based on experienceand qualifications.
