Here’s What We Do…

Combined Metal Industries (CMI for short!) sources and processes recycled ferrous and non-ferrous metals across North America and ensure they do not end up in a landfill or go to waste. Our recycling stream ensures that all the ferrous and non-ferrous metals that enter our yards will create something new again!

Here’s where you come in!

CMI is looking for a new employee to join our team. We are seeking a reliable and hands on Facilities Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving equipment, machinery, and infrastructure across our recycling yards and maintenance shop.

Now that you know about us, we want to know more about you!

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, recycling yard, and maintenance shop.
  • Inspect buildings, work areas, yard areas, doors, gates, fencing, lighting, washrooms, offices, and shop spaces for repair or safety needs.
  • Complete basic repairs such as painting, patching, carpentry, drywall, doors, locks, hardware, flooring, shelving, and fixtures.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs, including sinks, toilets, leaks, drains, hoses, and other facility‑related plumbing issues.
    • Set up, move, assemble, or repair office furniture, shop equipment, shelving, supplies, and workstations.
    • Maintain tools, supplies, maintenance areas, storage rooms, and workspaces in a clean and organized condition.
    • Monitor maintenance supplies and report when parts, tools, or materials need to be ordered.
    • Coordinate with outside contractors or service providers when specialized repairs are required.
    • Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
    • Identify and report safety hazards, property damage, or maintenance concerns.
    • Keep basic records of repairs, inspections, maintenance work, and completed tasks.
    • Perform other facility and building maintenance duties as assigned.
We think it would be awesome if you have:
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, construction, or general repairs.
  • Strong hands-on repair skills and the ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, locks, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
  • Dependable, punctual, and safety‑focused.
