Job summary

County of Simcoe is seeking an entry-level Maintenance and Facilities Worker I to perform a variety of maintenance duties in commercial buildings. The role focuses on building upkeep, grounds care, safety compliance and general site support during a 3-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications include Grade 12, a valid G license, and a recent criminal record check. Physical tasks up to 50 lbs and after-hours emergencies may be required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or educational equivalency.
• Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Criminal Records Check that is less than six months old at time of hire.
• Ability to carry out instructions and do detailed work accurately.
• Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Handyperson skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical areas are assets.
• WHMIS knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform general commercial building maintenance and grounds upkeep.
• Monitor inventory and process requisitions.
• Maintain records and use approved systems according to schedules.
• Open/close facilities and ensure security.
• Address spills, accidents, and urgent maintenance tasks.
• Assist with county events including setup and teardown.
• Coordinate with teams and attend staff meetings.
• Provide coverage in the workroom as required.
