Job summary

WSP Canada is seeking a Well Technician to support field drilling, monitoring, and environmental projects in the Whitby area. You will operate equipment, assist with drilling, and ensure safe, compliant well construction on site.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in field technician roles, a Class 3 Well Technician certification, an AZ/DZ license, and the ability to work outdoors across remote sites and variable weather while maintaining a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

As a Well Technician within Applied Solutions, you’ll spend your time on meaningful, community‑focused work — operating heavy vehicles, supporting drilling programs, and translating technical plans into real‑world outcomes.

Your Impact
  • Install, and service, environmental monitoring wells in accordance with Class 3 well‑technician standards and provincial regulation 903.
  • Operate AZ/DZ‑licensed vehicles to safely transport drilling equipment, materials, and tools to project locations.
  • Assist with drilling, casing, grouting, and, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑performing well construction.
  • Contribute to projects supporting contaminated‑site remediation, water‑supply planning, and infrastructure development where wells and accurate field data are essential.
  • Maintain a safety‑first work environment by following WSP safety procedures, participating in tailgate meetings, and using proper PPE.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, hydrogeologists, and fellow technicians to achieve project milestones.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Hands‑on experience in monitoring well construction, drilling, environmental fieldwork, groundwater, or related activities (typically 3+ years in a technician or drilling‑support role).
  • Valid Well Technician Class 3 certification (or eligibility) in the province.
  • Valid AZ or DZ driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with the ability to operate heavy vehicles safely.
  • Experience documenting well construction, filling out well records in accordance with Reg. 903.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather, travel to remote project sites, and adapt to project‑driven schedules.
  • A technical background such as rig maintenance, or equivalent on‑the‑job field experience.
  • Comfortable using tablets or laptops to complete digital field forms, photo logs, and daily summaries.
  • A commitment to safe work practices and environmental stewardship.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 - $102,500

MB & ON: $70,600 - $97,200

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 - $92,900
