Job summary

Extendicare Inc. in Brandon, Manitoba, is seeking an Executive Director for our Long‑Term Care homes. This role leads operations, ensures compliance, and drives quality care while managing budgets and partnerships.

The ideal candidate has a university degree, LTC administrator certification, 5+ years in health management, and a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, KPI‑driven decision making, and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • University degree required with relevant field.
  • Long‑Term Care Administrator certification where applicable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of health management experience including budgeting and labour relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing long‑term care operations.
  • Experience with KPIs, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Passion for person‑centred care and resident well‑being.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check within six months, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operations and funding expenditures while ensuring compliance with jurisdictional and organizational requirements.
  • Manage home operations within budget and promote fiscal accountability across departments.
  • Collaborate with community partners, regional teams, and support teams to enhance resident and team member well‑being.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, collective agreements, and Extendicare policies related to resident care and safety.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership and guidance to managers, employees, residents, and families, building team capacity.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on quality care, resident rights, teamwork, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build high‑performing teams through talent development, education, mentorship, and succession planning.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives that enhance resident care and operational excellence.
  • Partner with leadership teams to develop strategies that strengthen resident care and support organizational goals.
  • Respond to feedback from residents, families, vendors, and team members with professionalism, empathy, and accountability.
  • Champion Extendicare’s mission, vision, values, and commitment to ethics and integrity.

Extendicare is looking for experienced healthcare leaders for Executive Director positions across our Long-Term Care homes, with an immediate opening in Brandon, Manitoba.

  • Working knowledge of business planning processes and utilisation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive business success and strategic objectives.
  • Experience in risk management activities and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Passion for person‑centred care and supporting seniors.
  • Must provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Check within six months, or be willing to obtain one.
