Job summary

Waterford Barrie Retirement Living in Barrie, Ontario seeks an Executive Chef to lead a culinary team and craft exceptional dining experiences for residents. The role involves menu innovation, kitchen operations, and events tailored to dietary needs, with emphasis on warmth and hospitality.

You will oversee procurement, cost control and quality, while mentoring staff and maintaining regulatory compliance to ensure resident satisfaction and a home-like dining atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in culinary arts with a food safety certification.
• 3–5 years in retirement living, hospitality, or related sector with leadership roles.
• Valid Safe Food Handling and Smart Serve certificates.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the culinary team with hands-on kitchen leadership.
• Ensure dishes are fresh, tasty, and visually plated with warm service.
• Solicit resident feedback to continually improve dining.
• Monitor performance and quality, implementing necessary adjustments.
• Spend at least 50% of time hands-on in food prep and operations.
• Assess team performance and maintain quality standards.
• Maintain records, invoices, and reports per policies.
• Manage kitchen budgets, control food costs, and orders.
• Prioritize resident satisfaction and adapt to changing needs.
• Train and motivate staff with clear communication.
