Job summary

Canoco is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our Civil Division in Fort Saskatchewan, Canada. The successful candidate will operate hydraulic excavators for earthworks, trenching, and site development on civil construction projects.

The role requires prior excavator experience in civil construction, familiarity with GPS control systems (Topcon or Trimble) as an asset, a valid driver's license, and strong safety focus. OT may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Must have prior excavator operation experience in civil construction.
• Experience with GPS machine control is a plus.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong understanding of excavation techniques and soil conditions.
• Experience around underground utilities and safety aware.
• Ability to read grades and project specs.
• Good communication and teamwork, with OT flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators to complete trenching, excavating, backfilling, grading, sloping, and material handling.
• Excavate safely and accurately around underground utilities, pipelines, structures, and other infrastructure.
• Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, blueprints, and project specifications.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure safe operation.
• Work closely with supervisors, grade crews, and other team members to complete projects on schedule.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all company policies and safety regulations.
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating hydraulic excavators safely, efficiently, and with precision in a civil construction environment.
