Oak View Group (OVG) is hiring for an Event Staff Team Member at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa. You will be the first point of contact for guests, delivering World Class customer service and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment during events.

Responsibilities include ticket handling, assisting guests with accessibility needs, and coordinating with various departments to resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Ontario SmartServe certification required or willing to obtain before first shift.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Knowledge of Event Services and related roles & responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine property walkthroughs to identify issues.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies or disturbances with professional handling.

  • Act as ambassador for Oak View Group (OVG).
  • Direct guests to Guest Services for special needs or requests.
  • Support departments with guest-related escalations as needed.

Position Summary

The Event Staff Team Member is committed to providing World Class Customer Service to all patrons attending events at the Tribute Communities Centre. Members of the Events Team are often the first point of contact for guests, and as such, must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.60-$18.35 CAD (per CBA).

Benefits As Per The Union Agreement.

This position will remain open until October 23, 2026.

About The Venue

The Tribute Communities Centre is Durham Region's premier sports and live entertainment facility and is managed by Oak View Group. We are home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League and host a myriad of other events, including concerts, ice skating, family shows, trade shows, convocations, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Greet all Guests in a welcoming and friendly manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and employees.
  • Ensure that all building access points are properly secured when necessary.
  • Perform routine walks through your assigned area of the property to assess and address any concerns.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations or disturbances, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Maintain positive, professional interactions with staff, guests, and management at all levels.
  • Safeguard the well-being of individuals on the property by addressing any issues proactively.
  • Handle any disruptive individuals appropriately, with a focus on conflict resolution and positive outcomes.
  • Work independently and use judgment to assess situations and respond accordingly.
  • Operate a ticket scanner and follow ticket scanning protocol as outlined in team training.
  • Act as ambassador for OVG.
  • Retrieve and verify guest tickets, as required.
  • Direct Fans with special needs/requests to Guest Services.
  • Support all departments with guest-related escalations as required.
  • Adhere to all OVG service standards and policies, including health and safety and the AODA act.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Always work with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ontario SmartServe certification is required (or be willing to obtain if hired and prior to first shift).
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a similar environment, particularly in customer-facing roles.
  • Knowledge of Event Services and affiliated roles & responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to traditional business hours.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
  • Comfortable with using communication tools like two-way radios.
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and emergency personnel when necessary.
  • Experience in an event-related role is an asset.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties/requirements associated with this job.
  • Strong knowledge of alcohol control policies in the event-driven industry is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the City of Oshawa and local attractions is an asset.
