Job summary

True North Sports + Entertainment is hiring guest-focused Event Security Guards for Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre. You will help create a safe, welcoming guest experience while enforcing venue access and conduct guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include handling crowd management, incident response, and assisting with directions and venue activations. A positive attitude and strong communication are essential, with accommodations available upon request.

Qualifications

  • Ability to de-escalate situations with calm and respectful communication.
  • Comfort working in loud, fast-paced live-event environments.
  • Ability to stand, move around venue and work a minimum 60% of events.

  • Collaborate with teams to resolve guest concerns and ensure service quality.
  • Observe LGCA Smart Choices guidelines and maintain a safe, welcoming venue.

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for guest-focused Event Security Guards to join our team at Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre.

Our Event Security team plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and memorable experience for every guest. We’re looking for friendly, personable individuals who enjoy connecting with people, communicating with confidence, and know how to make guests feel comfortable and supported.

What to be excited for in this role:
  • Welcome every guest with a friendly and professional approach while maintaining all venue access control requirements and restrictions.
  • Proactively identify and address guest code of conduct concerns while maintaining a professional, respectful approach.
  • Build positive interactions and use effective communication to manage challenging situations
  • Assist with safety, security, emergency incidents, threats and disturbances as required.
  • Support line control, crowd management and mobile ticket scanning while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Welcome guests and provide any assistance with directions and information about seating, amenities, services, concessions and venue activations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve guest concerns to ensure exceptional service.
  • Observe guests and ensure guidelines set out by Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA) ‘Smart Choices’ are followed.
  • Take pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming venue through continuous monitoring and attentiveness.
  • Complete post-event administration including venue presentation checks, incident reports, work orders and sharing feedback with Supervisors.
What we need from you:
  • A genuine passion for working with people and providing exceptional guest experience.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to connect and interact effectively with a wide range of guests.
  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, guest services, security, conflict resolution or other public-facing roles is considered an asset.
  • A positive, professional and enthusiastic attitude, even in busy or high-pressure environments.
  • Comfortable working with large crowds in a loud, fast-paced and dynamic live-event environment.
  • Confidence in de-escalating situations through calm and respectful communication, active listening and good judgment.
  • The ability to recognize when a situation requires additional support or intervention.
  • Must provide a clean criminal record and child and adult abuse registry check.
  • A valid security license, or eligibility to obtain one under provincial security guard legislation, is considered an asset.
  • Must have or be able to complete Smart Choices (formerly Serving it Safe) course as outlined by Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and move throughout the venue with pace.
  • Must be able to commit to working a minimum of 60% of events at Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre including evenings and weekends.
