Job summary

The Baycrest Foundation is seeking an Event Fundraising Specialist to support Baycrest's Bike for Brain Health, Pro-Am for Alzheimer's and Pickleball for Brain Health events in Ontario.

Reporting to the Director, Event Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships, you will drive participant engagement, donor stewardship, sponsorship development, and event operations. This 12‑month hybrid role requires in-office presence three days a week with some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • A university degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2–3 years of peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or charitable org is an asset.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Event Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships, the Event Fundraising Specialist will help deliver the Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health event, Ontario's largest one-day cycling fundraiser, the Pro-Am for Alzheimer's, Canada’s largest on-ice hockey fundraiser and Pickleball for Brain Health, and other events as assigned.

You will be at the center of our event experience, ensuring the seamless execution of events and delivering outstanding service to participants. You will support participant engagement and success, identify and advance business development opportunities, process donations accurately, and act as a trusted resource throughout the participant journey. Your efforts will help drive the continued success and growth of our events while maintaining an exceptional experience for all involved.

This is a 12-month contract role with the opportunity to convert to a full-time position based on performance and business needs.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.

Given the nature of fundraising and donor engagement activities, this role requires flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support and attend Foundation events, donor functions, committee meetings, and other related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Participant Engagement
  • Supports the planning and execution of peer-to-peer fundraising events, including Bike for Brain Health, Pro-Am for Alzheimer's, and Pickleball for Brain Health, with responsibility for supporting participation and revenue goals.
  • Executes participant recruitment initiatives through outbound outreach, community engagement, partner networks, and referral strategies to attract new participants and support event registration targets.
  • Provides fundraising coaching, resources, and support to participants, teams, and volunteers to maximize fundraising success and enhance the participant experience.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for participants, responding to inquiries and providing exceptional customer service throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Monitors participant engagement and fundraising performance, identifying opportunities to improve participation, revenue, and retention.
  • Develops and executes participant stewardship activities, including welcome, recognition, and thank-you initiatives to foster long-term supporter engagement.
Partnerships & Revenue Development
  • Supports the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of sponsorship, partnership, and community engagement opportunities in collaboration with Foundation leadership.
  • Manage and steward inbound partnership and new business development opportunities, ensuring timely follow-up and relationship management.
  • Collaborates with sponsors, community partners, and internal stakeholders to maximize event participation, engagement, and revenue generation.
  • Assists with fundraising analysis, revenue tracking, and reporting to support decision-making and performance
Event & Operational Support
  • Collaborates with Events, Marketing & Communications, and Philanthropy teams to support fundraising campaigns, participant communications, and outreach initiatives.
  • Monitors participant-facing systems and processes, identifying opportunities to improve the user experience and resolve issues.
  • Supports event-related administration, data management, reporting, and fulfillment activities, including the preparation and distribution of participant materials.
  • Represents Baycrest Foundation at fundraising and community events and provides event support, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects assigned.
Qualifications
  • A university degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of relevant Peer-to-Peer fundraising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in innovative fundraising, revenue generation, and relationship management.
  • Fundraising experience in health care environment preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a healthcare, nonprofit, or charitable organization is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with donors, participants, sponsors, volunteers, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt communication methods (including telephone, SMS, email, video calls, and in-person meetings) to build strong relationships, encourage fundraising participation, and support event commitment.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, stewardship, and customer service skills, with the ability to serve as a positive ambassador for the Foundation.
  • Ability to build trust, inspire confidence, and develop productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience using fundraising, CRM, event management, and reporting platforms; experience with Blackbaud products (Raiser's Edge NXT, TeamRaiser, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience analyzing fundraising and participation data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Knowledge of legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements regarding fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building-skills, and natural ability to exert influence, develop personal and effective working relationships and inspire confidence and trust in donors, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • A Police Reference Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, is required as a condition of employment.
Compensation

At Baycrest, we take pride in ensuring our compensation structure is internally equitable and compliant with pay equity legislation. We believe compensation should be transparent, equitable, and reflective of your experience and growth. Our salary ranges are structured to support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency.

The salary range for this position is $71,208 to $89,010 per year.

Your placement within the target hiring range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant education and experience, as well as considerations such as market conditions and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined using these factors to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
