Job summary

Science World in Vancouver is seeking a part-time Future Science Leaders Teaching and Laboratory Assistant to support Year 1 Discover program activities for high school students (grades 10-11). You will assist in classroom and lab lessons, help prepare materials, and mentor students under the guidance of the program team.

The role emphasizes collaboration, curiosity, and a growth mindset, with evening sessions and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Satisfactory completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Undergraduate degree in a STEAM field is an asset.
• Experience working with youth is an asset.
• Being an FSL student alumni is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Attend Discover (Year 1) program sessions on Tue/Thu evenings.
• Welcome students into the building with staff.
• Facilitate classroom and lab lessons and document sessions.
• Prepare materials for laboratory activities and maintain an orderly space.
• Assist in recruiting students for following program year.
• Support other FSL programs, chaperone field trips and events.
• May lead at least one lesson within the program.
• Operate within Science World values and culture.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
