Job summary

ML HOMEPLATE SHELTER COALITION CORP. in Canada is seeking a part-time Social Support Worker to provide support to individuals experiencing homelessness. The temporary contract ends on Sept 15, 2026, with 16.5 hours per week and evening shifts managed by Team Leaders.

You will assist clients with social benefits, coordinate with community resources, and facilitate life skills programs while collaborating with social services and healthcare providers to support housing stability.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential.
• In-depth understanding of social services and regulations.
• Ability to problem-solve, perform crisis intervention, and prioritize tasks both independently and in a team.
• Empathetic approach; commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in obtaining social benefits and refer to resources (legal, medical, financial aid, housing, employment).
• Provide support to clients in group homes and halfway houses; assist with activities and transition planning.
• Facilitate life skills workshops, substance abuse programs, behavior management, youth services, and other community programs.
• Meet regularly with clients to assess progress and provide support.
• Track and evaluate clients' behavioral changes and responses to treatment programs.
• Advise on social assistance; organize service delivery; coordinate with social agencies and healthcare providers.
• Evaluate clients' skills, strengths, and needs; guide development of action plans.
