Job summary

Extendicare St. Catharines is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for a temporary part-time role, 22.5 hours biweekly, 2pm–10pm on both floors.

Reporting to the Director of Care, you will provide nursing care in keeping with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and Extendicare policies. The successful candidate must hold a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, have experience with cognitively impaired residents, and possess infection control

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices with infection control.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple duties.
• Clear verbal and written communication; active listening.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident care following established nursing standards and physicians’ orders.
• Observe and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions.
• Assess residents and participate in care plan development and evaluation.
• Monitor health changes and refer to doctors as needed.
• Supervise and direct personal care staff on the unit.
• Assist in preparing the facility for RAI MDS.
• Complete medication passes accurately and timely.
