Job summary

Extendicare St. Catharines is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a temporary part-time role in the evenings. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will support senior residents, oversee care plans, and ensure nursing standards are applied across shifts.

The successful candidate will hold a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario or be eligible for registration, with prior long-term care experience preferred and strong assessment skills.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Registration or eligibility with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
• Managerial experience in long-term care preferred.
• Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Commitment to working with seniors.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to think critically and see the big picture.
• Organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident care follows established nursing standards and policies.
• Assess residents, develop and review care plans; monitor health and refer to doctors.
• Plan, supervise and evaluate nursing staff; orient and train personnel.
• Assist in preparing the Facility for RAI MDS.
• Take charge of the Facility in the absence of the Director of Care.
• Staff replacement in the absence of the care clerk.
